Within our family, the tongue-in-cheek name for these are “Better-than-Sex Brownies”We only make them once a year, which is around the holidays,so we skimp on absolutely nothing! My sister and I have been cooking up a storm the past two days. We don’t really know what to get our parents anymore and it seems like food is what pleases them the most these days. This is somewhat of a frankenstein of a recipe with a hollandaise sauce recipe from Tyler Florence and egg poaching “recipe”(more like tips) from Alton Brown. We traded off cooking and photography duties throughout the process. I pulled this recipe from this YouTube clip and it worked pretty well! Ingredients:3 c. flour 1 1/2 tbsp sugar 1 tbsp + 1 tsp baking powder 1/2 tbsp salt 1/2 tsp baking soda 1 1/2 sticks butter cut into 1/4″pieces 1 1/4 c buttermilk 1 large egg, beaten Directions:Preheat oven to 425 degrees Mix dry ingredients except butter Add butter and mix until the mixture has a coarse texture Stir in cream until a moist dough forms Knead on floured surface and flatten to 1/2″thick Cut out rounds,re-knead and repeat until no more rounds can be cut out Brush the tops of the biscuits with a light coating of the egg Put in oven and cook for 15 minutes or until tops are golden brown. I suspect these biscuits will make a cameo in a recipe very soon… Posted by roxiao on December 24th,2009 jQuery(“document”).ready(function(){jQuery(‘#ngg-gallery-62-494′).galleryView({panel_width:600,panel_height:400,frame_width:40,frame_height:40,transition_interval:0,overlay_color:‘#222′,overlay_text_color:‘white’,caption_text_color:‘#222′,background_color:‘transparent’,border:‘none’,nav_theme:‘dark’,easing:‘easeInOutQuad’});});Just wanted to wish everyone an enjoyable and safe holiday! So in this post,I’m debuting my brand new Canon EOS Digital XSi. It was a little Christmas present from me…to me. I’m still messing around with different angles, lighting, zoom, and focuses. In short,I have no idea what I’m doing This post also features a guest “chef”,my sister Jenny. She wanted to share a pasta dish that she came up with recently. As you can see from the pictures,it’s a big ol’melting pot of…stuff. I won’t even try to describe the ingredients that went into this. Suffice it to say that everything that my sister likes is in it. | |
