Another first for today, this is the first recipe that I made together with my sister! We traded off cooking and photography duties throughout the process. I pulled this recipe from this YouTube clip and it worked pretty well!
Ingredients:
- 3 c. flour
- 1 1/2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp + 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tbsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 1/2 sticks butter cut into 1/4″ pieces
- 1 1/4 c buttermilk
- 1 large egg, beaten
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees
- Mix dry ingredients except butter
- Add butter and mix until the mixture has a coarse texture
- Stir in cream until a moist dough forms
- Knead on floured surface and flatten to 1/2″ thick
- Cut out rounds, re-knead and repeat until no more rounds can be cut out
- Brush the tops of the biscuits with a light coating of the egg
- Put in oven and cook for 15 minutes or until tops are golden brown.
I suspect these biscuits will make a cameo in a recipe very soon…
